Consistent and punctual attendance is crucial for ensuring that all dancers progress and have a positive experience in their classes. Students are expected to arrive at least five minutes prior to the start of class. Frequent absences or tardiness may affect a student's ability to participate in upcoming performances.

Reporting an Absence
Parents must notify the studio of absences, late arrivals, or early pick-ups. To report an absence, log in to the Parent Portal, select “Attendance,” and follow the prompts to indicate the affected day and classes.

Refund & Class Makeup Policy
Please note that no refunds or credits will be issued for classes that are missed, including those canceled due to inclement weather. We encourage students to attend another class to make up for any missed sessions.

-
Proper class attire is required. Students not dressed appropriately will be excused from class
-
Be present & ready to learn at the start of class. Frequent tardiness may result in dismissal from class and/or exclusion from missed choreography
-
Students arriving late must wait until the music stops to enter the classroom
-
Students are expected to treat their instructors with respect, employing whole-body listening and askign questions at appropriate times
-
Students demonstrating disrespectful or disruptive behavior will be required to sit outside of the classroom for a period of time determined by the instructor and, if necessary, dismissal from class for the day.
-
Students may not practice other class dances or skills during class
-
Students are expected to remain in the classroom for the entire duration of class (with the exception of using the restroom)
-
Students must demonstrate effort to improve with each class
-
Students are expected to dance full-out!

Most importantly, students must actively participate in maintaining a positive, welcoming environment for all BDSOPA students. We cheer on all of our classmates, make sure we are not blocking their view in the mirror, and allow more advanced dancers to go first in across the floor exercises.
We have zero tolerance for bullying. Untoward or unkind behavior will result in dismissal from class and, if repeated, expulsion from our program.
-
Private lessons are available to all BDSOPA students! Options include:
-
Weekly recurring lessons: Ideal for consistent progress & individualized mentorship
-
Weekly recurring lessons are scheduled through the office and coordinated based on studio, teacher, and student availability.
-
-
Individual lessons: Ideal for additional support & audition preparation
-
Parents may schedule individual lessons through the Parent Portal under the "Appointments" section
-

Rescheduling Lessons
-
Parents are required to provide at least 24 hours' notice via email if their child will be unable to attend their weekly private or semi-private lesson. Lessons canceled without this notice will not be eligible for rescheduling. Please note: Teachers do not manage lesson schedules--all scheduling inquiries must be made through the office
-
If you have scheduled an individual lesson, you may cancel or reschedule through the Parent Portal
-
We recognize that children may occasionally fall ill. In such cases, please notify the studio at your earliest convenience, and we will make every effort to reschedule the lesson.
-
Please be advised that frequent cancellations may lead to removal from the private lesson schedule.
Please note: Private lessons are not a substitute for class attendance
-
Performing is a crucial element in the learning process! We are thrilled to offer all BDSOPA students the opportunity to participate in two annual performances:
-
The Betsy Daily School of Performing Arts Follies, held in June
-
The Fa-La-Lollies, held in December
Registration:
No action is required to sign up! We assume that all students are participating in upcoming performances unless they are enrolled in a technique-only class, or they opt-out of the performance by emailing the office.

Commitment:
Students must maintain consistent class attendance and uphold our Code of Conduct. Missing 4 or more classes may result in ineligibility to participate in an upcoming performance. Pleaste note: Private lessons are not a substitute for class attendance.

Costumes:
If you've seen a BDSOPA performance, you've already seen our passion for costumes in action! All of our costumes are made-to-order and often further customized by our staff. We view costuming as a vital aspect of the performing arts, and each year we see our students' confidence soar as they receive their bespoke costumes.

All costumes, unless otherwise noted, are ordered through the office. We must place our orders well in advance to ensure costumes arrive in time for the performance, allowing ample time to properly fit each dancer and make adjustments if needed.

Related Fees:
-
Costume Fee:
-
Betsy Daily School of Performing Arts Follies: $135 per dance
-
Includes all costumes items, customizations (e.g. shoe bows), head pieces, & accessories. This fee does not include shoes, tights, earrings, or student-specific alterations
-
-
Fa-La-Lollies: Varies by class, either rented from our costume closet or ordered independently
-
When possible, we choose costumes that incorporate dancewear or apparel that students will be able to continue using throughout the year. Our office will send necessary details and links for parents to purchase independently.
-
At our winter showcase, our teachers mayutilize our expansive collection of holiday costumes, props, and accessories. Classes using BDSOPA costumes pay a rental fee of $25 per costume, which covers expected cleaning and repairs. (Please note that lost, severely damaged or soiled costumes will result in a replacement fee, determined by the cost for us to replace the costume.)
